This review would have gone very differently depending on the timeframe so I am glad I waiting until today to finally write it up! I want to give an A+ or 5 stars to Canada Archery Online and the guys at the shop. I'm only giving a 4/5 to this bow and I will explain. This 59 Kodiak is a stunning bow and the grip and way it feels in the hand is excellent. That's what made me take one home in the first place. I have many other Bear models in weights from 35# to 60#. I got this model in 40#. I had it for about 1 month and had fallen in love. I shot several rounds of 3D and shoot often at my home shooting range. I have a long draw length of almost 30 inches and this bow is so smooth, doesn't stack and I had it shooting arrows weighing over 500 grains like darts. My chronograph said 175 fps for my best 535 grain arrow. Then one day, on the third draw, an awful crack! I found a split in the riser between a layer of the purple heart wood and the adjacent wood. The lamination/glue had failed! I was super bummed as this had quickly become my favourite and was shooting so well. I contacted Canada Archery Online, sent them photos and told them the whole story. They contacted bear for me and quickly told me I'd be getting a new replacement bow if I dropped my broken one off back at the shop. Today I got my replacement and it already has a couple dozen arrows fired and it's just like my original. So again, if it was a lemon and this new bow lasts I would say buy one of these without hesitation. Time will tell but for now one star off the bow, top marks for this store!!!!
Yep, it's pricy but its the big boss of bear bows. It's a classic, it shoots gracefully and quietly, the arrow rest is perfect. I've had one for about 4 years now and I still love it. Anyone who tries it knows it's a great bow.
