Tariff Changes Starting September 1: What It Means for Canadian Archery
On September 1, 2025, Canada removed the 25% retaliatory tariffs on many U.S. imports that qualify under CUSMA (USMCA) rules of origin. For archery retailers, this means bows, arrows, and accessories from U.S. suppliers can now enter without the heavy surtax. Tariffs on U.S. steel, aluminum, and auto-related goods remain, so items with significant metal components may still be affected.
Earlier this year, tariffs drove up costs on U.S.-made sporting goods. Retailers faced tighter margins, higher prices, and limited supply options. Many shifted to alternative suppliers, and customers often saw fewer choices and higher prices on shelves.
With the rollback, Canadian archery businesses can once again source competitively from U.S. suppliers, provided goods meet CUSMA rules.
Canada Archery will be able to refresh inventory, secure original pricing, and pass on savings as new shipments arrive. Customers can expect more variety, improved availability, and many more sales.
We want to thank all of our loyal customers who continued purchasing from Canada Archery during this situation. Pivoting to new products and understanding the situation was beyond the control of any small business in Canada.
It is our hope that we will be able to restock many American brands within the next few months based upon manufacturer availability.
